LIGHTS, CAMERA, CREWCLASS!

Crewclass has been commissioned by Ace Crew to create an exclusive training video for new staff. Ace Crew are based at the Wimbledon Studio’s and supply crewing and logistical support across the conference, exhibition, event and film industries.

The video covers all the basic skills and knowledge that a new crew member will require to be both competent and confident on their first day. It is being produced with the support of Metro Broadcast. The format is a chapterised DVD, featuring illustrations and onsite demonstration footage, linked with Simon Lovelace’s unique style of informative and entertaining presentation.

Ace Crew managing director, Brian Goulding says: "we are delighted with this venture. It’s not just about packing trucks and pushing boxes; the broader the range of skills our crew have, the better the service our clients receive. Crewclass recently contributed to the Stage Jobs Pro Theatre Careers Handbook, an excellent book filled with advice and case studies aimed at people starting a career in the live industry.

Two early champions of the Crewclass concept were Stage Jobs Pro, who immediately came on board with advertising and awareness support, and freelance writer and industry expert AK Bennet- Hunter, who sat in on the first training event. He immediately saw the value of the Course, and wrote an enthusiastic piece in The Stage Technical Training Supplement (PDF) in May 2011.
